KIVI, the Royal Netherlands Society of Engineers (KIVI) was founded on 31 August 1847 by three engineers under the protection of His Royal Highness Willem Alexander Paul Frederik Lodewijk, Prince of Orange.

Nowadays, with over 20,000 members, KIVI is the largest professional association of engineers in the Netherlands.

RINA, The Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA), is an internationally renowned professional institution whose members are involved at all levels in the design, construction, maintenance and operation of marine vessels and structures. Members of RINA are widely represented in industry, universities and colleges, and maritime organisations in over ninety countries.
